The Valleys of Dzukou come with dramatic formations and unparalleled beauty, dotted with precious flowers of rare species. This interesting valley looks like a mown lawn from a distance and is watered by two meandering streams viz Dzukou river and the Japfu river which often freezes in winter.

About Dzukou Valley:

Dzukou Valley is a valley located at the border of the Indian states of Nagaland and Manipur. Its a spectacular visual treat of emerald green hills, lush forests, serpentine streams and myriad colourful flowers that dot the vast plain valley and its meadows. It is popularly known as “Valley of Flowers of the North-East”. It is situated at an altitude of 8050 ft above sea level, behind the Japhu peak located in Nagaland. The entire valley starts flowering from the month of June and remains till September. A beautiful and rare species of lily, found only in the Dzuko valley. The endemic Dzukou lily was first identified, in the Dzukou valley.This entire valley is adorned with lilies, aconitum, euphorbia and multi-coloured rhododendrons. They envelope the valley floor like a carpet so much that there are times when you can’t see the valley at all. Since this course is comparatively less vigorous, it would be a great way to begin your trekking experience with Dzukou trek this season. The extravagance of nature in the form of rich variety of flora and fauna is worth capturing and a high definition camera would always come handy for this purpose.

Getting There:

The best way to reach Dzukou is by taking an overnight or a morning train or a deluxe bus from Guwahati to Dimapur. From Dimapur you can take a share taxi directly to Kohima. From Kohima, one can hire a shared sumo (operating from the BOC point/counter) to Viswema Village. Viswema Village is about 25 Kms from Kohima. The shared sumo service also operates between Kohima and Zakhma. Zakhma is another base for the Dzukou Valley. Zakhma is about 20 Kms from Kohima. The ideal time to visit Dzukou Valley is from the month of June to September. It is at this time that the valley is carpeted with various stunning and vibrant flowers.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 01: Drive to Kohima from Guwahati

    Day one is all about plain and hill drive along the plains of Asam and the Valleys of Nagaland. These are several modes of transport for reaching Kohima from Guwahati. Running seven days a week, There are lots of train which travel to Dimapur from Guwahati. The best way to travel is to take a very early train The Guwahati-Jorhat Town Jansatabdi in the early morning and reach Dimapur by 10:30 AM. To reach Kohima – before dusk is quite important so that you may have ample of time to relax and prepare yourself for the trek. So if you board a local cab at 12 pm in the afternoon, you could expect to reach Kohima anytime between 5-6 in the evening. En route, you would pass the high valleys of Nagaland. It would be important to equip yourself as per the requirements. The essentials include a pair of trek pants, basic medications, sunglasses, cap, woolen clothes etc.(download checklist for trek essentials item from section belo).

  • Day 02: Zakhama to Dzukou Valley

    The second day of the trek involves a 18 km drive to Zakhama followed by a 5 1/2km trek to Dzukou Valley. The initial phase begins with an hour-long drive to Zakhma.. You would come across winding steep roadsr bouncing down the hills and wild flowers, bamboo and trees gracing your way. On reaching Zakhama we start a 7 Km trek to Dzukou Valley. After an initial uphill trek of about 40 minutes to the top we reach the point from where Dzükou starts but the main valley is still another two hours walk away. Another two hour of trek and you reach the camp site. The majestic views of the impressive Valley will soothe this trek.

  • Day 03:Dzukor Valley to Viswema

    The Third leg of this day begins with a breakfast and moving in and around the Camp Site. After having a quick Lunch at around 12:00 Pm we return back to Kohima by the other way “Viswema” which is longer but easy and pretty much straight between flowers and tall grasses. we have come to our. Evening you can relax or go to Khonoma village.

  • Day 04: Drive back to Guwahati, Recollecting Memories

    Hire a shared cab,public transport from Kohima to Dimapur From Dimapur catch a train or Bus to onward journey to Guwahati.

You will be provided with a Tent on sharing basis and individual Sleeping Bags one evening snacks on arrival, dinner, next day breakfast and early lunch. The rate for the same will be Rs.2,300.00 per person.

Camping Meals Guide from Trekking enroute point to Dzukou and Back to Treking end point for 1 Night 2 Days:

Here you will be escorted with a Guide from trekking enroute point to Dzukou Valley and leave you back the next day at the same pickup point. On arrival to campsite you will be provided with an evening snacks on arrival, dinner, next day breakfast and early lunch. The rate for the same will be Rs.4,500.00 per person.

Camping Meals Guide from Kohima to Dzukou and Back Kohima for 1 Night 2 Days:

Here you will be provided with pickup from Kohima to the last motorable point. And you will be guided to the valley by our expert guide. On arrival to campsite you will be provided with an evening snacks on arrival, dinner, next day breakfast and early lunch. The rate for the same will be Rs.6,500.00 per person.

Booking Policy

  • 25% of the tour expenses is to be deposited with ADVENTURA at the time of booking. This deposit along with an invoice from ADVENTURA on receipt of such an amount will be considered the confirmation of the booking.
  • The full payment for the tour needs to be paid 30 days prior to departure

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations will be subject to cancellation charges.
  • Cancellations have to be intimated to ADVENTURA in writing and by mail.
  • We will keep 15% of total amount on cancellation.
    Cancellation between 20 days prior to departure will be charged 50% of tour expenses.
  • Cancellation between 15 days prior to departure will be charged 75% of tour expenses. Cancellations made from 10 days to day of departure will be charged 100% of the tour expenses.
  • Cancellation by ADVENTURA in the unforeseen eventualities of disaster, war, riots, political or industrial unrest like Airline operators strike or any other force majeure (forces outside our control), it may be necessary to cancel the tour in the best interests of our clients. In such an eventuality our clients will be informed as soon as possible. The expenses borne by the clients will be refunded in full. We will also provide you with an alternate set of tour dates.
  • ADVENTURA does not own places of accommodation (hotels, resorts) for its clients. While we do exert influence for the service providers to adhere to the utmost quality, the ultimate responsibility for the service is with the Hotels themselves.
  • ADVENTURA will not refund the booking amount for entry refused due to VISA or health factors, such cancellations will be guided by the cancellation policy.

Note & Important

  • All hotels in Nagaland are non-star category.
  • Guests with adventurous mind should travel Nagaland.
  • Room heaters may not work in Nagaland due to voltage fluctuations.
  • In this region there are no relevance between the distance and time travelling as it depends upon the conditions of roads and congestion of traffic.
  • Mobile services may not be active in all destinations. Pre-paid roaming and International roaming connection does not work in this region.
  • Credit Cards / Traveller’s cheque are not freely accepted.
  • Every effort will be made to maintain the itinerary, in view of local strikes, landslide etc., which are beyond our control all schedule and itineraries are subject to last moment changes and any additional cost, will be borne by the guests directly.
  • For Nagaland tours, all Indian Tourists require ILP (Inner Line Permits). ILP are issued from Guwahati. Tourists need to send us their copy of Identity & address proof such as Driving License or Passport. Permit process are two to three working days.

Note: To Go to Nagaland Indian National require Inner Line Permit. To issue the permit we require Adress Proof, Identity proof and 02 copies of Passport size photographs of every person. It takes 03 official days to prepare.

Or you can send us the above mentioned documents prior to 02 week from the date of your arrival. And for which we will charge you Rs. 500/- per person for issuing the ILP.
