About David Scott Trail History:

David Scott was a British Administrator and political agent to the British Raj. The David Scott Trail is a Pony-cart trail which he built from Cheerapunjee to Bangladesh. The trail caused a war between the Khasi people, led by U Tirot singh, king of the Khadsawphra Syiemship and the British. U Tirot Singh was defeated by the british in the war and was captured and deported to Dhaka (Now the capital of Bangladesh)
It is spread across 100km but the route that is used for trekking is a 16 km hiking route stretching from Mawphlang to Lad Mawphlang.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Guwahati -Mawphlang–Lad Mawphlang (David Scot Trail)

    Meet and greet at Pick up point Ganeshguri ,Guwahati at sharp 6 AM and then transfer to Mawphlang, The start point to David Scot Trail. (120 km / 3 Hours) Tea and. Reach Mawphlang “Sacred Groove” by 9 AM. Meet the local Guide and get to know about the trek and place. After a healthy breakfast start your trail through the beautiful landscape surrounded by clouds, clear streams, forest, Rivers & hanging Bridge.

    16 Km / 5-6 Hours Trail. Crossing streams, Mud, Rocks, Forest, Villages

    NOTE: Gradual descent for 1 hour followed by flat walk for about 2-3 hours. Gradual ascent for the last 01 hour.

    Start your trail by walking north of the village and reach the 1st resting place called ‘Ka Kor Ka Shonmai’. This is named after a daughter of Dorsing Lyngdoh, the 1st Lyngdoh with the British, and acts as the primary trail identification point for the David Scott’s Trail.

    Later after another 1 & ½ km you will reach a Tomb and a Water tap where you can fill your water bottle. After crossing the tomb, proceeds your trail and witness the beautiful sighting of The Umiam River, Simpanghang Falls and part of Mawphlang Dam. Continue the trail by crossing streams and after a few km you will reach a military–build hanging bridge over the Umiam River. Cross the Bridge and continue the trail till you reach a point where you’re at the same level as the river. Cross the river by Hopping over the rocks and continue the trail to Lad Mawphlang, the exit point of the trail.

    After leave the trail and your local guide at Lad Mawphlang, transfer to Cherrapunjee by vehicle (13 Km / ½ Hour Drive) Check into Guest House / Tents. Evening Bonfire & Barbeque.

    Dinner and overnight at Cherrapunjee.

  • Day 02: Cherrapunjee–Laitlum–Guwahati

    Post breakfast cherrapunjee local sightseeing and later drive to to Laitlum Canyon which is approximately 60 km / nearly 1 ½ Hour from Cherrapunjee and 22 km / 1 Hour from Shillong, The state Capital of Meghalaya. It is a must visit place for all nature lovers.

    Laitlum Perched in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya . Laitlum translates “End of Hills” and it is exactly appears to be true to its name. You can see breathtaking gorges, clouds and steep winding stairways down to the lush green valley. There is no other better place than the Litlum canyons to witness the bird’s eye view of Shillong’s breathtaking surroundings.

    Later return back to Ganeshguri , Guwahati The dropping Point ( 120 km / 3 Hours).

Booking Policy:

  • 25% of the tour expenses is to be deposited with ADVENTURA at the time of booking. This deposit along with an invoice from ADVENTURA on receipt of such an amount will be considered the confirmation of the booking.
  • The full payment for the tour needs to be paid 30 days prior to departure

Cancellation policy:

  • Cancellations will be subject to cancellation charges.
  • Cancellations have to be intimated to ADVENTURA in writing and by mail.
  • We will keep 15% of total amount on cancellation.
    Cancellation between 20 days prior to departure will be charged 50% of tour expenses.
  • Cancellation between 15 days prior to departure will be charged 75% of tour expenses. Cancellations made from 10 days to day of departure will be charged 100% of the tour expenses.
  • Cancellation by ADVENTURA in the unforeseen eventualities of disaster, war, riots, political or industrial unrest like Airline operators strike or any other force majeure (forces outside our control), it may be necessary to cancel the tour in the best interests of our clients. In such an eventuality our clients will be informed as soon as possible. The expenses borne by the clients will be refunded in full. We will also provide you with an alternate set of tour dates.
  • ADVENTURA does not own places of accommodation (hotels, resorts) for its clients. While we do exert influence for the service providers to adhere to the utmost quality, the ultimate responsibility for the service is with the Hotels themselves.
  • ADVENTURA will not refund the booking amount for entry refused due to VISA or health factors, such cancellations will be guided by the cancellation policy.
